Mark Lucas > A truly great experience with Volvo... We drove home the next day after driving the car aboard the ferry. A guy who bought a Volvo three years ago from the factory was very nervous about putting his car on the ferry. When he did it before, his brand new Volvo got a few dings from the other passenger cars on the ferry as they opened their car doors--they packed 'em in like sardines. Fortunately for our trip, the ferry wasn't very full, so we all had plenty of space. By the way, we were the only station wagon sold on that day. The majority of the other vehicles were XC90s and S60s (SUVs and sedans). Overall, our experience was fantastic!

Mark Lucas > Vehicles at the Safety Center showroom... The green S40 was put to the test when the XC90, Volvo's largest SUV, impacted the vehicle. The tests shows how safe the cars are designed. One example is the level of detail they go through to ensure safety: the engineers lowered the bumpers on the XC90 to keep them in line with passenger cars, thereby ensuring that a collision would impact a smaller car's bumper and not impact the passenger area. Many US SUVs have such a high bumper, a head-on collision with a car would often prove fatal for the car's occupants.
Mark Lucas > A model of the crash testing facility they had on site. We were not permitted to take pictures of the actual facility. But we did visit the track and were shown a video of the meticulous amount of detail the Volvo engineers go through to ensure the Volvo cars and SUVs are the safest in the world. It surely made me feel better having bought a Volvo!
